October 8, 2012 Leave a comment

Powderwhore Productions returns to Stumptown this Thursday for 2 shows, 7 & 9 PM, of their latest film ‘Choose Your Adventure’ at NE Portland’s Kennedy School.

Despite the underwhelming winter of 2011-2012 the Powderwhores were able to make make the most of conditions at home and abroad with visits to Cerro Castillo, Chile; La Grave, France; the Antarctic Peninsula; Svalbard, Norway; Mount Foraker Alaska; British Columbia and, of Course, The Wasatch Mountains.

Snowrider will conduct it’s annual raffle of cool geat including a Mt. Hood Fusion Pass, Black Diamond Skis, Patagonia outerwear, Gerber Knives and more.

See you Thursday!

C’mon up to Ski Bowl Tuesday February 8th and support The Northwest Weather & Avalanche Center and The Snowrider Project PDX. There will be a judged Telemark freestyle competition in the upper bowl, telemark & alpine touring demos galore and $2 pints of Terminal Gravity IPA with your own cup. See you then.

Found some nice snow today. @hatfieldpdx #onhood

We found some great snow in the trees between 4,500 and 6,000 ft. Starting the day in Govy with thumbs out always means a fun bonus descent at the end of a tour. By 2pm the snow lower down manked up some at which point we beat a retreat to Govy for beers and some American football at Snowrider’s Govy branch. Thanks as always Lendog for your hospitality when we sweaty and disheveled dirtbags pound on your door.
The new snow means good things for skiers and boarders but also for local businesses and their hardworking employees. People whose hours have been curtailed due to a lack of snow recently hopefully will have their normal workloads and paychecks back.

Gotta quick ride up Timberline Rd. w/ @hatfieldpdx and his bro.

Wy'east Telellel Fluffernutter. Today we found welcome wonderous snow in some Mt. Hood Wilderness old growth. Telellel is an expression for a telemark skier who makes parallel turns. #onhood

Boom. Crash. Lawn dart.

Tele Tuesdays @ Mt. Hood Ski Bowl 2009 Dates Announced

October 16, 2008 Leave a comment

Jeremy of the Mountain Shop just emailed to announce the confirmed dates for Tele Tuesdays at Mt. Hood Ski Bowl: January 13th, February 3rd & March 3rd.

Be there or be a trapezoid. Tele Tuesday’s are a ton of fun and a great time to check out new gear be it tele skis & boots and/or alpine touring skis, boots, and you name it. If you’ve never telemarked before this is a great place to start with the fun atmosphere and super friendly folks. Think of this as the antithesis of paddling out at Seaside Point. There are fun races(uphill & downhill) and tele clinics galore taught by some of the hottest pinheads this side of Trondheim. Snowrider will be there too tabling and carrying on and possibly even skiing.
